Sizzling Hot
Sizzling Hot is one of those games I opened expecting to close after two minutes, and then looked up twenty minutes later still tapping. The whole thing is built around colourful fruit symbols lining up across a simple grid, and the appeal is entirely in the pace. Rounds are short, the reactions are instant, and it never asks you to think too hard, which is exactly what I wanted on a slow afternoon.
The controls could not be simpler — one thumb, one screen, no fiddly gestures. That makes it a genuinely good one-handed game, the kind you can play on a train while holding a coffee. I did wish for a bit more variety in the visuals after a while, but the bold colours and the little sizzle effect when things align kept it feeling lively.
Battery-wise it's gentle, since there's not much heavy animation running. On the default settings it ran cool and quiet on my older phone, and turning the sound off didn't lose much of the experience. It's a comfort game, not a deep one, and it knows exactly what it is.
What we liked
- Genuinely comfortable one-handed play
- Light on battery even on older phones
