The Quiet Games I Reach For At Night
Late in the evening I don't want reflexes or tension. I want a game that lets my brain slow down. Over time I've gathered a short list of quiet games that do exactly that, and they've become a real part of my routine.
Hollow Lantern is top of the list. Its dim world and soft sound design feel like a warm bath for the mind, and with headphones on it's genuinely soothing. There's no timer, no fail state screaming at you.
Tiny Harbor Town works the same way. Arranging a little town while half-listening to something is oddly meditative, and because the pace is gentle it's fine to stop the moment you feel sleepy.
These games also happen to be kind to your battery and your eyes, which matters when you're playing in a dark room. If your evenings feel a bit too wired, try swapping the loud games for something quiet. It changed my nights.
